How Much Electricity and Gas Do I Need for My Paint Booth?
Most automotive sized paint booths will need 100 amps or less on 208/240 3 phase lines. Some, like a lower CFM heated booth or a non-heated paint booth, need much less than that.
Gas usage will be determined by the paint booth’s heating power. Heating in the paint booth industry is generally expressed in btu/hr and is almost always a direct fire application in today’s market. However, indirect gas and oil fired applications still exist in old or used paint booths from the 80’s & 90’s.
Every paint booth model has different loads for both fuel and electricity, which can be provided by the manufacturer. This is helpful in both estimating with a contractor for bringing the electric service to the booth and for permitting information. Local authorities will require this information at the time of installation.
