Yes you do. Unless your local authority tells you that you don’t, assume you need a permit. What may happen even if they say that you don’t need a permit for the paint booth is that when contractor that is doing another part of the paint booth project pulls a permit (say for gas, electrical service, ductwork, or fire suppression), the questions may start flying from different authorities and the answer could be reversed. You don’t want any surprises, be very up front with all of your local authorities on the planned project and make sure that you have all the pieces of the project addressed before you make any decisions.
