Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL Racing) built an entirely new facility in Indianapolis, Indiana, for their IndyCar team. With countless car wraps and designs happening throughout the season, RLL Racing needed a finishing setup that could turn out jobs as (nearly) as fast as their racers. Our very own Jeremy Winters visited their HQ to check out the installation. Watch his experience in the YouTube video below.
With their brand-new facility, RLL Racing had to install gas lines and electrical units in the building before their booths could go up. During this step in the construction process, working with your manufacturer to ensure the building’s utilities align with where the booth will be installed is essential. After much discussion, the RLL Racing team decided on a three-piece setup, including a mixing room, Pro Series prep station, and Space Saver booth. The Space Saver puts the AMU atop the booth so shops can gain valuable floor space around the unit.
One of the simpler customizations we made were the color-matched coverings in our Furia red to match the prep station with the Space Saver. Besides visual customizations, we also made several technical changes to help their team during their production process. Among these upgrades was a push latch door, creating a hands-free experience for painters when both hands are full.
Accudraft installed the FOCUS control panel along with the new setup, which includes a full touchscreen and internet capabilities. They can have multiple custom configurations and access Accudraft support right through their control panel. The FOCUS also allows for a LIVE subscription that can be added on at any point in the future, which grants our support team remote access to the booth’s settings to identify and correct issues from thousands of miles away.
As IndyCar continues to grow and develop as a sport, racing teams must keep up with constant changes and automotive technology advancements.
